This is to document a common failure on Jaguar/RR 3.0L V6 SC engines, and I suspect, without direct knowledge, same with the V8 SC version.

I did a search here and found one thread that was titled coolant leak, however, it was another problem so I concluded it would be better to start anew.

This is my Wife's 2018 F-Pace Prestige with 50K miles and with the V6 Sc engine. She texted one day while out and said the dash was showing a low coolant message. When I looked at it, I found coolant dripping from the skid plate towards the rear and next to the right front wheel.

As I further examined the engine I found latent coolant puddled in the valley underneath the SC (very difficult to see with a high powered flashlight). Conclusion this was one of the plastic coolant piping that is underneath the SC (very common leak on these cars, both Jaguar and RR versions). This coolant system is one of the worst designs I've seen on any car in the last 40 years; As if it were designed as a high school project in a shop class.

To start, I had to pull the SC.

Once the SC was pulled I was able to verify the leak source:

The front Y-tube is a common leak source as the plastic shoulders on the y-tube essentially disintegrate and around 40K to 60K miles. While I was there, I replaced a couple other common leak sources, also in plastic. The rear coolant connector that bridges the cylinder heads also leaks, but mine wasn't. Then, just for added assurances, I replaced the water pump, easy to do at this point, and I replaced the oil intercooler located in the center of the valley.

One final plastic pipe is visible when assembled. It is the connector pipe that starts at the Y-Pipe and terminates at the t-stat.

Here is a pic of all the pipes I changed. I purchased a kit that was upgraded to aluminum and not plastic.

One final closeup pic of the leaker. The shoulders that contain the o-ring seals are completely gone.

This was a long project simply because of parts availability. It was about 8 hours of work, but 5 days down just waiting for deliveries.

Hope this helps someone.
