Considering one of these in next few months - is there anything |I should be wary of?

I know the fuel consumption will be bad, but I can live with that - it's more mechanical issues to look for.
It will be a Jaguar AUC so will have a warranty at least. I also have a Jag specialist about 10 miles from my home if needed.

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

No, they are fab, just have your eyes open and keep a bit back to deal with any issues.

The 5.0 Supercharged engine is far more reliable and less problematic than the diesels, they make an epic noise, look really nice and are a great place to be in.

I know someone who has an F-Type R and an X351 XJR and has had no problems at all with them.

Just go for it, and don't go trawling the internet for horror stories!!!

Do it. One of the most charasmatic engines of the last 25 years and well sorted, they're miles more fun than the twin turbo stuff.

I have an XKR with that engine with over 140k miles on it and is still uses less oil than a brand new Audi, and an X351 Supersport with 74k miles for driving the kids around in. XKR needed a new water pump at 130k miles and I put one in the Supersport as a bit of preventative maintenance, but the 2010 one that came out had no signs of leaking whatsoever. Aside from that both have been zero trouble.

I wouldn't bother with extending the warranty either, put the money in an account until you have £2k and ring fence that for any repairs, but I doubt you'll need it. Like any powerful, heavy car wear and tear on brakes and bushes can be high if you enjoy the power thoroughly hehe

Had ours for about two years now, came out of an F-Type R, and chose this over Macan Turbo and Alfa Stevio Q4, it was a no brainer to be honest, better to drive, better noise and definitely more bang for your buck! Only normal wear and tear stuff on ours 🤞🏼 so far, we have extended the warranty previously, but will be dropping that this year in favor of saving the monthly cost of that to cover anything that goes wrong. Get on while you still can!

I'll be doing the same on my V8 F-Type since Jaguar have doubled the cost of all warranties.

To original poster, check if you have a decent Jaguar independent in your area rather than relying on the dealership network.

Aux rads can leak, not too bad to replace but if left unchecked you could risk head gasket damage.

Some cases of the paper air filters getting soaked, falling apart and getting eaten by the engine (with pretty bad consequence for the cats!). Swapping to cotton or foam solves that.

Brakes and pads are daft money so check they’ve been done recently or have plenty of life left in them. There’s very little choice away from genuine Jag parts. Tyres around £300 a corner. You can get budgets for less than £150 but anyone who puts those on deserves to understeer to their deaths, preferably in a way too gruesome for even a Final Destination film.

Be aware that JLR dealers are a mixed bag, also since the network has been culled some people are waiting months just to get an appointment. Far better to find a good specialist. Mine has just had its done yesterday for £810 including front/rear diff oil and transfer box oil at a specialist. Look after it and it will look after you.

Expect £120 fill ups if you run it on 99. Well worth it though. In my opinion, short of real exotica, there’s very little that sounds as good! It will do 30mpg on a run if you’re sensible and sit at 70. I usually get mid to low 20’s. Lots of hard or town driving will see mid to

If you do Facebook there’s an very active and friendly F-Pace SVR group, plenty of advice on there.

Happy hunting!

Brilliant car in many ways and so satisfying to own.

Also solidly reliable with only a couple of minor known faults.

Had mine 3 years.

Had mine 6 years from new (one of the first) and has been excellent.
It just feels “right”. A keeper.

Yep, cracking car. Owned it for 2 years it’s a 2019. I have extended Jag Warranty but I use an approved JLR Independant. I stay well away from my local main dealer. Great engine, usable and fun. Never tire of driving it, either to the tip or on a blast.

Go for it !! had mine a year and a half now, 2019 only fault ( Bar security update fiasco ) has been front wheel bearings which are Jaguar only £1,200 at my local independant fitted. I still smile every time I start it up and the way it can hustle along is mind boggling. I stay up in the Highlands and have a blast with every drive, fuel is crap but hey who buys this engine and expect a good mpg although wife did see 31 mpg on a trip to Glasgow once.

Ah you had the security update issue as well. It created a fault on my headlights and had to go back in. The only problem I’ve had is the O2 sensors they were replaced foc.
