Hi all,

I'm looking at a very well-specced facelift F-Pace SVR that's being sold as a Jaguar Approved Used car by a main dealer.

However, the online Jaguar service history shows a gap of around 2.5 years between services. The dealer says the missing maintenance was "caught up" with a major service before the car was put on sale, and it still qualified for the Approved Used programme.

Coming from the Porsche world, where a gap like this would typically prevent a car from qualifying for Porsche Approved, I'm struggling to understand how this fits with Jaguar's standards.

For those with Jaguar/JLR experience:

  • Is a large service history gap (2.5 years in this case) relatively common?
  • Would it put you off buying the car?
  • Do you think it would materially affect future private resale value?
Thanks!

Hmmm. This issue is becoming more noticeable in recent years. MB, for example were not be able to sell a car as 'Approved Used' if it didn't have a correct / full MB history. Now, they can 'catch up". BMW have two schemes, BMW Approved, which requires correct/full history, however, BMW Used, also sold by main dealers don't have that requirement. I suspect it's a means of having vehicles to sell after the pandemic.

Re the F-Pace, was it on a 2-year or 1-year service schedule, as Jaguar appear to have changed their requirements over the years. IIRC, the latest iteration was 1-year or 16,000miles.

I'd be more concerned about the actual mileage covered between the services, with particular regard to the oil changes. Many cars were parked up for extended periods during the pandemic, so a longer period, in itself, wouldn't overly concern me if limited miles were covered. However, it might be indicative of a fleet vehicle that wasn't looked after, which would be more of a concern.

Jul 2025 - 32k-mile / 24-month service completed at 39k miles, including: Brake fluid, Spark plugs etc.

1. No, not in my experience.
2. Yes, if there others to choose from.
3. Yes or slow the sale.

Does it come with full Jaguar Warranty and if so for how long?

If I had the choice I would be inclined to look elsewhere. Are they discounting on price because of this? These cars are pretty reliable IF you stick to the schedule.

They sell it with the standard 'jag approved used' warranty.
The price is attractive.

Yeah I walked away, after trying to negotiate.

I loved test driving an SVR, much better than Macan Turbo - now need to find one at a reasonable price. 360 camera is a challenge to find on the pre-facelift.

Good luck. You will find one, they are great cars in my opinion.

I'd have given that a pass as well with 25,000 between oil changes; it would concern me about the general way maintenance has been, or not been, dealt with. I haven't checked but I know that Jaguar were offering 2-year warranty on approved used recently but it would be interesting to know their approach if they thought a missed oil change had been a contributory factor to any problem that were to arise.

Happy hunting.

Thanks.
I've been talking to 2 Jag dealerships so far - both offer 12 months warranty by default.
