Hi all. Currently have a 2008 XKR and in the next 6-18 months will be selling and upgrading. All sorts of ideas kicking around from 911, Vantage, F Type R, R8 etc.

I keep coming back to try XKR-S idea. I like my current XKR but as a very keen driver do find it floaty and without much confidence in corners compared to previous M cars. It was fantastic on a recent run to Le Mans.

Does anyone have experience of a 5.0 XKR-S in comparison to my 2008 4.2 XKR? Is the handling massively improved? Obviously there is a substantial power difference.

Any comments/thoughts/opinions appreciated .

I've got a 2014 XKR Dynamic R, which I've had for 3 years, the run out model. Believe this had all the suspension and handling enhancements the the XKR-S had but without the body kit additions, which are a bit OTT to me.

Whilst not a sportscar, it is pretty agile for a big GT and in Dynamic / Race mode, it is reasonable taut. And I'm pretty sure the guys at Swallows in Somerset could add improvements in exchange for cash.

All those mentioned in your 1st paragraph would be more sportscar like but at a loss of the GT element and space inside etc, perhaps with the exception of the 911. Friends have Vantages, DB9s etc and I'd rather stick with mine for bang for buck. Mine is the convertible, which I love, but the coupe XKR Dynamic is undoubtedly a better car.
