HELP - Can't get into boot of X308
Discussion
During the week the battery in my '98 XJR decided to completely flatten itself. haven't had chance to investigate the cause (could be as simple as leaving the glovebox slightly open). So first port of call is to charge up the battery and see if it flattens itself again.
However, I cannot get into the boot to take the battery out. The key operates an electric lock which ofcourse needs power. So is there a manual way of getting into the boot?
Any help really, really appreciated!

Check for a key slot on the underside of the chrome trim that houses your Reg plate lights.
Or as Phil has said it could be hidden in one of the badges, just depends on the model year.
There is definitely a mechanical way to get in as a back up for when the electrics are down....
Remember that a green "valet" key will not work in the boot or glovebox.

Had same problem on S type. if it's the same there IS a keyhole up under chrome strip. Once in the boot no problem to jump lead battery & all electrics fire up. Without electric power you are somewhat knackered.
Ar*e, it's happened again! As with last time the boot wont open with the key.
I have tried the cigar lighter charger (which was successful last time) with no joy so now I'm completely stuck.
I have new soffits and guttering being fitted to my house tomorrow and the Jag is stranded in the way!
Any ideas A) how to get to the battery? B) How to move it onto the street with a dead battery?
