XK8 Gear Box in Safe Mode

Need some advice..

My XK8 got hit up the rear when it was parked outside a friends house. Not too badly damaged but the gearbox has gone into safe mode so it'll inly give me drive in the 2 top gears so 20mph takes for ever to get to.

The car is going into to be looked at on Wednesday, has anyone had this happen to them or have they come across this before. I would like some idea of what I can expect before I role up at the garage and get stung for 100s.

Will it be a big job or just a case of checking it over and pressing the reset button??

It is possible when the car is impacted sufficiently hard enough to break the gearbox tailhousing. That is anything above 5mph. The damage may not look like much but may be more extensive than you think.

I would have the car put on a low loader and sent to your Jag dealer, and have them go through the car with a fine tooth comb. That has to be covered by the insurance. Retain a Solicitor, this WILL get messy.
