Help Please

I have a 4.2 XK8 05 model, in the six months of ownership I have managed to add 2,500 miles, my problem may be very minor but it's driving me up the wall.

Once I get to seventy theres wind noise which appears to be coming from behind the dashboard or lower on passenger side.

Any clues, suggestions or answers welcomed.

Some form of grommet is not seated properly. Probably the one for the steering shaft.

Bob, I do not run an XK, but I have an S-Type. I have had a similar wind noise problem once I got up to around 70mph. As you say, not a big issue but annoying. I did a temp fix with a piece of sponge stuffed under the plastic scuttle cover front nearside immediately in front of the windscreen under the bonnet which worked, sort of. I had the motor serviced recently and raised this problem, and the main dealer replaced all the grommets (leaving my piece of sponge behind!). It seems to have worked. Whether it will last on the fast run down to Le Mans this year remains to be seen. R.

Thanks Roger, inline the Gavin's thoughts, so I'll have a look tomorrow,if i can't find a cure a visit to the dealers will be called for as this is a real pain and spoils a good drive.
