Any good reason I should be using an OEM filter on my AJ6? Oil chnage coming up soon, and it looks cheaper if I just take it to national tyres, who will do everything for under £25! And I don't get dirty and have to faff around getting rid of the oil.

However, presumably they'll be using a generic filter. I doubt there's anything wrong with this, but does anyone know?

I'm always a tad wary of these outfits and their cheap oil/filter change offers. I'd ask what oil and filter they use. If they can't or won't tell you I'd think twice. There are some sh1te filters out there and some poor quality oil.

And would you want their spotty yoof all over your P&J? I took an old Mini of mine to Charlie Browns (long since gone) and they didn't drain off all the oil, didn't rub oil round the rubber seal of the filter and didn't replace the oil filler cap. But apart from that they did a grand job for their £10.

One main reason is that they might not use the correct grade/ type of oil. some joker will just put any old black stuff in there. unless you ask for a price of you supplying the oil and filter, and they do the dirty work, ?? ? ?? ? ? ?

If I was going to supply the oil and filter then I'd do it myself!

They do specify which grade they use, nothing about filters...
