recently purchased my first jaguar and i must say i am very impressed. she is a 1998 XJR with FJSH (most recently having tensioners / sc belt / pads and discs all replaced at the 60k service) now with 62k on the clock.

the handling for such a a big, heavy (and aircraft carrier long) car she is suprisingly agile. although the suspension is obviously set up for comfort there is very little wallow in the corners and the steering is very light and sharp. another suprise (no comparison here to STi / M3 / GTA) but still a welcome one...

performance is effortless, although the autobox is a little slow for my liking kicking in around 3/4k for the change. performance in general seems relentless and on more than one occassion i have found myself some way over the speed limit with no real idea what speed i was actually travelling at. it is going to take a little getting used to to be honest.

she is like a big rwd sofa and i can tell after 3 days that it should be a joyeous experience!

unfortunately due to a badger undertaking a suicide run on the return to ireland the car does need some cosmetic assistance, which will happen tomorrow
