Guys

Found a nice xjs in a field this weekend!
Well i say nice, its a bit tatty around the rear arches, its got red leather interior and is an auto.
Its silver with black pin stripes and a black front to rear stripe across the roof and bonnet. the paint is well cracked and flaking but even where its come away its not rusted ( maybe its been galvanised?)
its got twin headlights at the front and Its an old 'P' reg and aparently was driven into the place where it now stands about 15 years ago, all in working order.
Not had it running, and before i do start to investigate the posibility of restoration, i would love any info or reccomendations that you guys on here may have! or any ideas as to how much it may be worth?
And any clues as to history or identity!

Thanks in advance

Trust me, there will a ton of rust under there somewhere. You'll need deep deep pockets and lots of time with no guarentee of a result at the end of it.

Much cheaper to find a running example that needs tidying rather than an abandoned wreck (trust me, I know a lot about welding these buggers back together).

I'll never buy pre 90s facelift XJS ever again.

A 30 year old XJS that's been left in a field?! It'll be about 90% rust by now I imagine. It would cost more than it's worth to have it restored, unless you plan on doing most of the work yourself. It's expensive enough keeping a decent XJS on the road...

If it's an early model it might have the pre-HE (high efficiency) heads which make more power and are more desirable for tuned engines. If so, it's probably gonna be more economic to break it for parts than restore.

If you do really want to restore it then good luck! An XJS in top condition is a great car.
