xkr 2001 headrests go up not down

My seat controls can push the headrest up but they don't go back down even though I can hear the motor.

Any easy ways to fix this?

Probably not, most likely looking at having the headrest motor assembly replaced.

Had the same problem with my XJ 8.

I fixed it by removing the rear seat panel and repairing the nylon rack that the motor drives the headrest up and down with.

It's a bit of a bodge with araldite and tie wraps 'tho, but two years later it still works.

Is it both headrests? They are fixed to the motor with a ball / socket arrangement, maybe they have come off the ball? Can you remove the headrests with little effort? If you can, then power the motor all the way down, pop the headrests in, then give them a sharp hit to lock them back in.
