help please with buying a used XKR from abroad
Discussion
After having imported a few cars from the states, I am struggling to see why you would want to do this with a car that is already sold over here? By the time you have paid for shipping, SVE, import duty, registration etc I cant see that you'll be saving that much money?
Why not just find a good early car in the UK and buy that? there are plenty around. Bear in mind that 99% of cars exported to the US will be LHD anyway as they were a readily available car over there just as they were here????
You didn't say what your budget was, but early XK8's can be had for a really good price! If you buy from a specialist or from an enthusiast you will find a really nice car.
Try looking in Jaguar World Monthly or register with the XK Enthusisasts Club (XKEC.co.uk)
Scott.

We have just been down this road in some detail in the Porsche tent. This was encouraged principally by the excessive prices charged for 911's in Europe and UK in particular but also the way these cars hols their value nevertheless. There are savings to be made, it seems, but XK's depreciate a hell of a lot faster and this I think is the difference.
