I wonder why Autocars roadtest XKR was considerably slower than "Road & Track's" and "Car and Driver's" car. I have the figures if anyone is interested.

In the American mags the XKR is considerably quicker than the V8 Vantage, yet in Autocar the Aston is a whisker quicker. Most who have driven both say the Jaguar is the faster car.

The autocar XKR was a pre production model so the traction control couldn't be fully disabled, probably the main reason for the difference, I think the American mags had production versions of the XKR. I can't remember all the numbers so please post them if you've got them.

In this order, Autocar, Car and Driver and Road & Track: 0-60 mph 5.2, 4.5, 4.4.
0-100 mph 11.8, 10.9, 10.5. 0-140 mph 26.0, 24.2, no time.
¼ Mile 13.7 @ 107.4, 13.0@ 109, 12.9@ 110.4.

Wasn't the Autocar test when Aston were still owner by Ford, so the results were not allowed to show the Jag being the quicker car.

Though the US mags show the Jag as being clearly faster, nearly 2secs faster to 100.

If my XKR does 0-60mph in 4.4 secs Jaguar should be yelling it from the roof tops! If its jags 4.0secs then I'd be happy with that as it feels blistering fast to me!

The 'charged engine the Jag has, is quicker in the situations you don't tend to measure.
IE, real road conditions, where the supercharger is working for you.

The 4.3 n/a Aston engine is nice, but relatively gutless until 5,000 rpm.
