X Type question

I've noticed a couple have the mascot on the bonnet - is this normal on the X or some after market superglue at work?
None are / were produced with mascots. In the UK they would not pass the current laws. If any were to be put on the bonnet they should have plastic 'break free' bolts, in no way should they be superglued on as then classed as a hazard to pedestrians.
Anyway, they are a bit Naff on a modern Jaguar

Oh dearie, dearie me...
The X type is not a proper Jaguar.
It's an overpriced, overstyled, badge-engineered Ford Mondeo, cynically yet carefully designed to resemble (at a distance and in very poor light) the contempoary XJ saloon - that cost more than double the price when new, in a tragically pathetic attempt to give the impression the owner has bought a far more exclusive and expensive car than they really have.
IMO this cheapening of the brand has done more to contribute to Jaguar's recent downturn in fortune than anything else.
Anyone who puts a leaper on a Jaguar that left the factory without one is simply trying to accentuate the "Jaguarness" and therefore exclusivity and perceived status of their car. If the need to do this overrides the whole naffness of actually doing so then frankly they are looking at the wrong brand matey, and saying an awful lot about themselves to everyone else at the same time.
If you're actually contemplating buying an X type fitted with a leaper, how about going for a Lexus instead (Alan Partridge anyone ?
) with extra gold plating on the exterior, blacked out privacy glass, oversized chrome wheels and a barstardised "private plate" - that's much more likely to tick all the boxes.

According to Jaguar the X-Type is made of 20% Ford Parts , 10% Jaguar parts and the rest were subcontracted. Hardly makes it a Mondeo with a different skin. The engineering except for the basic platform (read floorpan) is Jaguar's.The X type is not a proper Jaguar.

So what if it is.The X type is not a proper Jaguar.
If the X-Type ticks all the boxes one is looking for in a car for the price, including the looks then buy one.
If you go back in the history the first Jaguar (although not called Jaguar then) was a reboddied Austin 7
