Well you could buy my dead XJS and nick the gearbox, central tunnel trim etc. No idea if you can just bolt it on though - that would be too easy wouldn't it?

I would buy Jaguar World Monthly and look in the ads for people that do nothing but break Jags. That might get you the parts you need.

But before you go doing the work drive a manual first then you know what to expect.

The change is not the knife through butter type that is the norm nowadays, and you might be better off selling the car and buying a V12 if you want to go fast.

The manual is pretty agricultural, it has a 'solid' feel, which is probably the best you could say about it. However since you have bags of torque you don't need to change much if you don't want to, I used to regulaly skips gears altogether, 1st, 3rd, 5th. It will pull from 1,000 revs in top. Party trick when giving a lift is to keep it in 3rd and let the revs rise - it is so quiet your passenger probably won't notice - wait till 4,000 then floor it. Nice, well it used to amuse me anyway smile

Hope you've got strong legs though, the clutch is heavy and gets to be a real pain in heavy traffic.
