Just got back from the XF launch in Glasgow, the car is great, it looks brilliant, definately much better than anything BMW,Merc,Audi make. Interior is very very nice, really modern, spacious and luxurious, Jag are onto a winner here. It definately needs to be seen in the flesh, pictures just don't do it justice.

Also had a good chat with the MD of Jag UK, he was very positive about the future with Tata biggrin The future's bright for Jag I feel.

So what did they do for the 'launch'? I've been invited to one, but not going as I would rather 'drive' it than 'see' it.

Great news re:Jag's future, we just need more folks to buy them. Hopefully they'll ditch that awful 'Gorgeous' Ad campaign and do more of the Bimmer thing, with great footage of Jags doing what they do best. That's driving and not posing.

Saw the new TV ad for the XF and thought it was a much better apptempt than the XK ad. At least you got some good views of the car. I'd buy one.

You should go, although you don't get to drive the car it's good to see and I must admit I enjoyed my chat with the Jag MD. They basically just unveiled the XF to a big fanfare then they opened a closed off area that had another 4 or 5 XF's, some XK's/R's XJ's etc. I really enjoyed it. And they've already ditched the 'Gorgeous' campaign biggrin

Popped into the Jag showroom just off Berkeley Square this morning.

XF looks great in the flesh; much better than the pics I'd seen. Quite a high shoulder line makes it look really muscular. Wasn't sure about the grille in the pics, but it looks good.

The cabin air vents are cool; they swivel open electrically. Well, I thought that was cool.

It's the first Jag I'd consider owning as a 30-something year old. Should be a great 2nd hand buy in a couple of years.

I went to the XF launch in Belfast this morning. One car on display(event was in an art gallery)which looked great in light blue.Several people commented on the cramped rear seat but overall impressions very good.If pricing was closer to U.S.levels it would be an ever greater success.

I couldn't get to the launch at Barnet last week as was working late, so I went and had a quick peek at the XF in the Watford Jaguar showroom this morning! All I can say is that it looks even better 'in the metal' than it does in the magazines and on TV.

The cabin design is lovely, plenty of room in the back and the boot is enormous! Cant wait to see what the "R" version is like next year? The salesman said it will have a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 with 500Bhp??? Is that correct? If so that will be one quick car!

I was looking at getting the new shape XKR later this year, but could really be tempted by the XF! I'll be interested to hear what new owners think of them after they have had them for a few months.........

I just had a test drive today. Great car but I'm not sure I can bring myself to come down in performance from my current XJ 4.2 to the diesel. Of course I could order an XK 4.2 but I think that could result in heavy depreciation.scratchchin

The coupe' style rear roofline coupled with a high waistline probably give an unfair impression of available space.Jaguar were handing out copies of What Car which judged the XF thewinner in a showdown with its main rivals. This didn't stop them saying however 'sloping roofline makes the rear feel a bit tight'and'boot is a good size, but it has the smallest opening'.Neither of these small criticisms would stop me buying one tomorrow if funds permitted.

I hope it looks better in the metal then the pictures. The front end looks Korean to me. Annoymous and generic.

No traditional manual then? And a diesel engine? Ugh.

And while we are at it: please fix the XJ! All the new bits of styling are below par, under the front bumper and those gills especially.

Well it's been said at least twice in this thread and around 1000 times in others that it does look better in the metal than in pictures so it's a pretty safe bet that it does biggrin

And don't diss the ZF autobox until you've tried it, I'm tired of seeing "no manual, jeez" comments from all these people who have never tried it. If I had the option of this gearbox in every car I'll buy I'd never have a manual again.

The car I tested had a reversing camera which was great but nobody seemed to know how to change from the camera to the diagram (with visual warnings). The diagram was much more useful but could only be activated when in neutral ????

just come back from the jag dealers to see the new XF. the interior is seriously tasty. it is in a different league compared to the competition. negative aspects, rear legroom still short compared to competition.

i wonder what this will do the S-type used prices..

Since my (rather slow) test drive I have been comparing this with other oil burners. The conclusion is that the BMW 535 d offers similar mpg with much better performance. The Beemer does not look as good though!

It's pretty tough for the Jag diesel to compete with that Beemer one. I think with like for like engines, the Jag would be very hard to beat. Still, the BMW does look a bit dated now, so if I had the choice between the two, I'd probably go for the XF, despite the slightly inferior diesel engine.

Sadly the V8 diesel isn't likely to appear in the XF, it's too wide.

I'd imagine that there is quite a price difference between the XF and a 535D.
