Replacing X308 aerial mast only

Has anyone changed just the mast on an X308 electric aerial? Mine is playing up (not fully extending) and a new mast on ebay for £15 suggets replacing just the mast will cure it and that it can be done without removing any trim.

Anyone got experience of this as it sounds too easy..?

Brief instructions from JTIS are:

Loosen the nut retaining the mast, switch the ignition and radio on and allow the mast to fully extend.
Remove the mast, noting the position of the teeth on the cable - should be toward the side of the car
Switch off the ignition.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

And, errr...that's it
