X-type - screaming sound at speed
Discussion
Recently, whilst in Europe, we were cruising at speeds around the 90mph mark. At this speed there were a whail that sounds very much like a woman whailing.
Its not a bearing noise, its not a tyre noise it seems to be wind noise related as just below 90 = no noise then lots of it. It appears to come from the drivers A frame area. Is this a common noise as I've never heard it on any cars I've ever owned!
I'm wondering if at some point the windscreen has been replaced and not fitted correctly, the obvious issue being that how do I get my local garage to investigate the fault as it only happens at speeds in excess of 85mph (only in Europe..)

I had also considered that too, what I will do to test is open the window when next in Europe and check the result. Of course the wind noise may change but if its a seal problem on the door window it should instantly go, if its on the A frame it should go as the low pressure area moves
thanks
thanks
I have experienced this as well ( 2004 model ). I think it was caused, as already suggested, by the drivers window not closing properly, or a faulty rubber seal on the door. I never got round to solving it as it was rather intermittent ( speed related ), and buying a new one cured it....
