Went to Tescos.
Came out to find two whole car length coin scratches along one side of the XK.
This, coupled with the two inch dent that some happy camper put in the wing by reversing into it
a month ago and the five inch scuff on the front bumper that the wife put on it in a car park said
"time to claim on the insurance".
Did so.
The insurance company said take it to some or other body shop and I said no.
The some or other body shop quote was two and a half grand and 3 days, the Jaguar quote was six and two weeks.
Reassuringly expensive...
After a day of phone calls and digging my heels in they finally agreed to the car going to the Jaguar body shop.

It came back today with a complete re-spray, full on dealer valet and is, quite frankly, breathtaking.
Looks and feels brand new. Well worth the £270 excess.

So if your Jag is looking shabby, park it at Tescos for a couple of days...

excuse my ignorance, but i didn't know you could claim from your insurance for scratches and dents? i assume you claimed this as if it was an accident, and your car was damaged? and i also assume you have protected no-claims bonus? again, excuse the ignorance on the subject!

it certainly sounds like a good day for you, after some inevitable hassle. smile

The claim was for vandalism.
Protected no claims - yes.
