XJ8 Questions!

A rubber pipe has split and appears to be leaking some kind of fluid (oily). On the radiator apart from the coolant pipes there are two metal pipes that screw in and are attached to the rubber pipes. On the left hand side, one at the top and one at the bottom.

The pipes appear to go around the back of the power steering pump. What are these pipes, and what is the fluid leaking out.

Also, I can smell oil in my water and am losing quite a lot per day - head gasket? and if so how big of a job is it? this is an XJR!
