mint black x-type sport. 2.5 and a 51 plate. half leather, climate etc and 60k on the clock. I advertised it at what I thought was a reasonable price but haven't had an awful lot of interest.

So anyone want to hazard a guess as to what its really worth? Am I being unrealistic? Frankly if its worth much less than I had thought I think I will hold onto it as there is no way I am giving away such a good car.

As per usual though, those book prices are not reflected in the classifieds.

If thats really the going rate I think I'll give it a few more weeks at the advertised price and then pull it off the market and keep her.

It is no good going on the Classified prices, it does not mean anyone will buy then at that price.

Fair point, but it gives me an indication of the asking prices at least. The book guide prices have never, IMHO, been representative of true world values in my opinion, simply a guide to allow a dealer to sit at their desk, whistle through their teeth and give a derisory offer in p/x.

I dont really use the car any more but for 3.5k I may as well keep it for the odd long journey in comfort.

Shozz, go to www.Glass.co.uk pay the couple of quid and see what the actual price is that the motor trade are using. There is also another book CAP which will list the price slightly lower than Glass's, so somewhere in between will give you a good guide. It is only a guide, as NormD says, you can sell anything at the 'right' price. The new XKR is trading £4k below book at the mo. eek I just think prices are moving so quickly at the moment, the guides haven't yet caught up. I would say that £3k is about right and as you point out worth keeping at that price.

Whatever Glass's/CAP say it's worth in the trade, knock an extra £500 off.

Sounds bloody cheap at £3k though.

The figures I gave were from Glass's, so dont waste your money at there website.

Cap are usually £200-£300 lower than that, and thats what the trade (main dealers)all use now.

No worries, ta for the help. For £3k I'd rather use it for autocross hehe £3k isn't going to do anything useful and seeing as its such a fantastic car I'll hold onto it rather than give it away. Its a shame as its doing about 150 miles a month due to having the 2 other cars but its comfortable for those 150 miles biggrin
