Would I be mental to even consider one of these?
Discussion
It's a slow office day today and I've been trawling through Ebay again, I've always had a soft spot for old Jags and I've found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JAGUAR-MK-9-1959-2-TONE-BRG-...
Would I be mad to even consider a MK9? I know virtually nothing about them other than a few bits I know about the engine fitted.
I probably won't buy it, but I like to wildly speculate and daydream about various motors that I could buy should I be stupid enough to fork out the cash for something that may well have the ability to bankrupt me.
Isn't that what being a car nut is about?
I also like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1969-JAGUAR-SERIES-1-XJ6-4-2...
A lot, bloody lovely looking motor.
Who needs modern machinery?

That XJ6 though...
Ever since Practical Classics rebuilt that blue Series 1 car all those years ago, I've always fancied one. I'm even mad enough to enjoy the complexities of inboard rear brakes where you practically have to remove the entire rear subframe to change the pads...
There are plenty of late 70's/early 80's series III cars knocking about too. What about an XJC?
They are indeed

Sorry but that Mk IX has got to be a scam. The price for that car has got to be out by a factor of 10. A £500 Mk IX would a total basket case.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JAGUAR-MK-9-1959-2-TONE-BRG-...

Fair do's, I've got to admit I know absolutely nothing about the MK IX, it was just a daily slope through Ebay to see what's on offer.Aswell as the plethora of XJ6/12's I really fancy, I've also come across such left field cars as a Datsun 180B and a really very tidy Volvo 164.
I just fancy another old car.
