Came very close to buying a 335i convertible y'day, but at last minute decided to test drive the new XK8 conv as well. Having just driven it i can't believe it is similar money to the BM. Makes no sense to me?!? The Jag was just superb.

My local Jaguar dealer is offering an 06 plate, 19k on clock, full history etc at £38k. Liquid silver with charcoal trim. They say there is no room to negotiate, and I'd be hoping to nip one at nearer £35k, so will either wait (as I imagine prices are only going down at the moment!) or see if they will budge.

It's going to be my daily driver, commute short journeys and weekend trips. Any comments from owners pls re reliability/ running costs/ what it's like to live with etc. would be appreciated at this stage. I was running a Range Rover until earlier this year so used to 13mpg - I guess Jag will be similar?

Depending on your driving style, the XK will do 17mpg when driven hard and about 24mpg on a gentle (sub 75mph) motorway run.
So much more special than a 3 series and very good value now at mid 30s.

The dealer is probably already loosing money on the car so doesn't want to move much further.

Tend to be harder to re sell without 20" alloys, but I think that the 19" look fine.
