I have the Xenons and the vertical adjustment is made using a hex head plastic screw on top of the lamp assembly. This can be accessed through the plastic cover. Just pray that the plastic adjuster hasn't broken inside the headlamp, as new Xenon's are expensive (I'm going through this pain currently!)
Just noticed that you have the STR like myself. Its likely that your adjuster has broken (these get brittle with age & heat). You can attempt a repair by taking the headlamp out (bumper removal first) and getting inside the assembly. I've tried a couple of times but the repair hasn't lasted too long each time. I'm now probably going to bite the bullet and buy a new light.
One of the regulars on the Jag forum recently had a problem with his and dropped it in at the stealers last week for its MOT and it failed. Apparently one the n/s headlight was out Its an HID Xenon, the reflector has slipped and it's a sealed unit. Just noticed that you have the STR like myself. How much one for one of these? £500 + £210 to fit Tried to source a used unit, contacted about a dozen breakers, no joy
forgive me if i'm wrong, but as far as i was aware, HID lights don't need adjustment, they self-level/adjust. the only adjustment you can make on these is to adapt them to driving in europe, so they don't dazzle oncoming traffic. that's also the only mention of any method of adjusting them i've seen in the manual too.

No, there are definitely adjustment screws in these lights. Unfortunatley I have got to know the internal workings of these things MUCH more intimately than I would have ever liked! The vertical adjustment pushes/pulls the top of the reflector assembly forwards/backwards to tilt the lights. The bottom of the reflector assembly is attached to the self levelling motor, which compensates for acceleration/braking/loading (and also provides a nice up/down sweeping movement when you switch the lights on!)buzzsaw said:
