X300 thermostat
Discussion
OK, me and my big mouth. Only the other day I was saying how well my X300 3.2 Sport was doing even after 12.5 years of ownership. So having opened my big mouth something was bound to go wrong.
She is no longer coming up to temperature and in fact if I use the electric pre-heater I've had installed to bring her up to temperature before starting the engine will rapidly cool till she's reading just about the top of the blue zone on the gauge.
So I presume the thermostat has failed. I can't find my service manual CD, never having needed to use it before, how easier job is changing it on an X300. Mine is a 3.2 and so normally aspirated version. I presume I need to order a new gasket as well as a thermostat. I guess it uses those funny metric spanners that always seem to want to clutter up sets of useful ones
