I do fancy one of the above in the future and was wondering as to suitability for the odd track day? Thinking of weight and auto box.

Thoughts and comments on experiences welcomed.

Thanks

I have just bought an XKR but really don't think it would be suited to a track day. Biggest issue for me would be the auto gearbox, although I think the weight would also be an issue in that tyres would be destroyed pretty quickly. I'd recommend using the Jaguar on the road and using a company like Everyman Racing to experience a trackday - in their cars! I have taken part in several of these events and this company is the best I have found and not far off the cost of driving your own XKR on a track if you take tyres etc into account...

I went to a track day at Mallory park last year organized by the Jaguar enthusiast club. I just went along to watch but there were about four XK8/R's going round as well as lots of other cars. I think you can have fun at a track day in any car.

No reason not to take one on a track ! NormanD took his on a performance day (before all the power mods) and had no trouble even with all the twisty bits. You have the J gate to play with. It will never drive like an Elise, and would benefit from a LSD but should be great fun, Trac off smile

I've been on track in the new XKR and it's great, the paddle shift gearbox is much better to use on track than the traditional J gate box.

John.
