Can't see much to dislike.

I'm sure that you will do all the usual checks, and ensure there is a good service history.

What a great ad to sell a car. Very impressive. If you like the colour, then what a motor.

I see that it has got a bonnet mounting for a leaper, though I don't see that as a problem, and while the colour might not be everyone's cup of tea, maybe that's why it's cheap. I like it.

Get into it and give a really close inspection, and a test drive. Not suggesting that there is any issue, but the timing chain tensioners on the 4.2 Supercharged engines can play up (though less so than on the earlier 4.0 engines) the symptom being a tapping noise when you start up.

The S-Type R is one of Jaguar's all time greats. I love my S-Type, though it isn't an R. Every time I sit in it I feel like robbing a train.

Isn't a problem on the 4.2ltr engines.

Just make sure it all feels tight and solid. Everything works and make sure it has the servicing done at the correct mileage AND/OR time intervals. Other than that if it looks sweet, it probably will be.
