I have a 2004 x type 2.0 diesel and it will not start on the key in the morning, If you bump it then it will run all day off the key but as soon as you give it some high revs it displays the glow plug light flashing and goes into limp mode, I have changed the glow plugs and the air and fuel filters but still no joy, jaguar are not much help either as I have the fault code, P0251 Injection pump A circuit malfunction cam/rotor/injector, Jaguar have only said it could be anything from the egr valve to a turbo, which after reading several bad experiences that others have had with jaguar I dont fancy a £2,000 bill if it can be avoided.

any info would be great, and would you take it to a diesel specialist to let them have a look?

Sounds like electrical fault with the high pressure pump to me, although I musy admit, I dont undersatnd why it wont start on the key, but will if you push it in that case.

My advice (please dont laugh) take it to a ford dealer and get them to read the codes again. They will have seen a lot more of that engine and may be able to narrow it down a lot more than the Jag dealer did.

Thanks for that, I was suspecting an injector but think I will take it to a diesel specialist to see what they say, it is a weird one, once it has been bumped in the morning it will start first time on the key all day long although rather lumpy on tick over.
