Whatho chaps. smile

I've long been a frequenter of the HSV forum having had a Monaro for 3 years but I've now also gorn & got meself a rather super XJ8 Sovereign (X308) LWB 4.0.
80k miles, full JSH, all the toys and £3750.

I am dead chuffed as it passed AA inspection with distinction too.

Anyhoo, pics to follow but am looking forward to joining in the banter.

cheers

Great looking car Nige! wink

I'm an absolute fan of these, currently have two! No, not greedy as unfortunately one is off the road at the moment needing the gearbox reaired/replaced.

The one I currently use is also a LWB, but with the 3.2 engine.

Great cars, just look after it well, and it'll reward you well. smokin

Cheers, got any suggestions for decent tyres?
It's got some 'orrible Kumhos on it at the moment which have about as much grip as I do on reality.

ooh dear, 'cheap tyres'....

I use Pirelli tyres only, depending on whether you have 16" or 17" wheels, it'll either be the P4000 for the 16" or P6000 for the 17".
My XJ that's off the road has 17" P6000, which cost around £135 - £140 each!

I have the smaller 16" wheels on my LWB which have the P4000's on and hold the road quite well, even during this cold weather we've had. Not sure of cost on these as I've only had this car since Oct and don't need any yet! But bound to be cheaper.
Just one thing to say.....don't let the garage put the weights on the outside of the rim; it wrecks the alloys! curseshoot

Thanks, yes, we tested another XJ8 and that had P6000's on and a bit better ride quality if I recall.
Good advice on the balance weights too.

Pneus online are your friends for tyres.

More reviews than any other site and cheaper too. Sticking with the OE Pirellis may be OK but there's alternatives too.

My 3.2 Sport originally came with P6000s on the 16" wheels. That is how I've always run her.

I'll put in a good word for this eBay trader - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/DEEP-TREAD-TYRE-Co - who has some very good used tyres and fast delivery. I got a clean set of Contisports for my XK8 with less than 10% wear, saving me close on £500.

I've always found pisherrelis (no mistake) a bad tyre. I've got Falken 452's on my Jag and they are a great buy. You can get them from Camskill.
