I havent got one for sale , but I have also been considering buying one or exchanging the Lotus. ideally for a 1965 4.2 coupe.

There have been some very nice examples going through Coys auction , worth looking at.
The one that ticks all the boxes is a little over my buget at 120k from Eagle

I hired one for 3 days over the New year break from Vintage classics in Wiltshire info here.

Excellent Experience highly reccommended

Have to disagree with you there, i`ve driven one of Henrys cars, and it takes all the excitement away from a 60`s car once it has all the modern gizzmo`s bloted to it.
I have a bog satndard seies one 3.8 roadster, and you cant beat it, i.e left alone with no upgrades.

I have a Series 1.5 that is spare, I own eight cars and the racing costs are taking a toll!

I know you're looking for a purist E-Type but this has all the modern bits you need but as the last post states the Eagle cars are a modern car by comparison.

Anyway, this is a c.300bhp beast, engine built by Chris at Racing Green, linked to a 5 speed box, triple Webers of course, big bore exhaust, six into two manifold, uprated brakes and suspension, wide wires that take modern tubeless rubber etc.etc.

I used to race it in sprints with my son but we've moved on to British GT and I've converted it back to a road car.

If you're interested e-mail me off line and I'll send more details and pictures.

Just recomissioning it for the road, put new carpets in etc.. and I like a car right, so am changing the half shaft UJs.

On the Brands GP circuit this thing can hunt down a 996 Porsche and a lot of modern machinery in the right hands!

Hiya Jon,

Thanks for the offer, but i`m realy looking for an early one, i.e metal dash, bucket seats.
Must admit tho, your car sounds nice, i`ve probably seen it, as i`m allways over at Brands,
Cheers
Billy.

Sorry to highjack this thread,

Jonny, what did you think of the engine Chris built for you?
Only I'm thinking of getting him to rebuild the engine in my XK150. PM me if you would rather, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Chris has done an amazing job on the engine, it really has changed the car. He has a great attention to detail and keeps you informed all the time. Rebuild was just short of £10k but it was worth it.

Dave, pictures are on their way!

Thats a very very expensive re-build. I have been quoted (on a Series 2 roadster) 3000 to 5000 pounds.

I've spoken to loads of people about rebuilding XK engines in the last few weeks. £10K is not unusual. It very much depends on what you want to have at the end of the day. CMC charge about £5.5 for a 250BHP engine where the work is farmed out to VSE, or £8K for them to produce it in house where all replaceable parts are replaced. When it comes to engine rebuilds the sky is the limit.

I was looking at have Chris rebuild my XK150 engine, but I've ended up picking up one from Eike Wellhausen on eBay.

Well yes - I have heard various things about VSE and mostly bad. But why on earth go to CMC who are very expensive if they are simply going to farm the engine out to VSE.The lowest quote I received was from Colin Ford who is the JEC E-Type "Guru" & runs a one man workshop near the Deptford Tunnel. I have used him for the 8 last years & have always been very pleased with his work.Brian Stevens (Hampshire) charges about 5K & I was very impressed with the work. BHP on a Series 2 went up to 325
