Hey guys,

My headlights are EXTREMELY dull and hardly light up the road at night at all. I want to get some Halogen / Xenon looking bulbs to try and get her to brighten up the streets a bit, but my local bulb supplier has asked how many pins on the back of the bulbs I have.

I have not yet removed them and don't really want to until I have the new ones.

My car is a 1991 H reg 3.6 Auto, does anyone know how many pins I'll have on the back of the bulb? Is it 2 or 3??? I've checked the handbook and can't really tell, it looks like 3. One at the top then 1 either side with none at the bottom.

Help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Darren

Hi

XJS head lamps where never very bright, you could try cleaning up all the electrical connections, then ensure that the lenses are clean and the reflectors intact before changing the bulbs to a different spec.
You could also consider changing to twin lamp units, the kits are still available from a number of sources, they were developed to deal with the issue of a lack of candlepower.

Thanks Bat, do you know how many pins were used on the back of the bulbs by any chance?

If it's got the lozenge style original headlamps the silvering inside the headlamp starts coming off with age. Be careful with the sping clips that hold the headlamp into the car as the plastic part of them fractures very easily.
