Anyone tried Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics on an S-Type R?
Discussion
The Falken 452s on my 05MY S-Type R need replacing. I have not liked them, though they seem to be well-regarded on some other high performance cars (probably a function of suspension set up - see other threads). But my cunning plan of reverting to the OE Conti Sports I successfully used previously (and around which Mike Cross set the Jag up) has been thwarted as these are "obsolete" and I can't find any anywhere. Aside from the fact that the current Conti Sport 3s are a totally different tyre, they don't offer the 275/35x18s needed for the rear. So it's back to square one, and trial and error is expensive at well north of £500 a set. From various reviews and other threads, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics look good, but I can't find any reports of them on this car. Anyone got any experience of these, or any suggestions based on good experience of hard driving on other tyres currently available?
Mrs JS has F1s on her Pug GTI.
They are - on that car at least - very good. Absolutely amazing ammount of grip and relatively quiet too, but they don't wear that well.
Have a look at Pneus online. There's a huge database of customer tyre reviews and they are much cheaper than most other web tyre sites.

I have the older F1's, the gsd3s, which are vastly superior than the standard Pirelli's, both in wet road grip and road noise. Not tried them on truly dry roads yet as i got them in December from Micheldever tyres ( good price for the 4, £530 fitted approx). The newer F1's were about £160 more for the set.
Hi There
Had a similar problem to the first poster - have been using Dunlop SP9000s on my 04 S Type R since I bought it.....but they're now obsolete - as I found out 2 weeks ago when I needed to replace the rears. So, after some research I put on Goodyear Eagle F1s...had them for 2 weeks and I must say they're pretty good. Grip is better than the dunlops, no difference in noise....quite a sure footed feeling about them. I do high mileage so the wear rate is important....which is the main reason I used the Dunlops - time will tell with the Goodyears, but www.tirerack.com surveys seem to rate them very highly in every aspect. Will swap the fronts to the same tyre when required.
Have used www.blackcircles.com for the last few times, but their mobile fitter was on holiday - tried www.event-tyres.co.uk/ this time and they were equally as good
Hope this helps

From what i have noticed, i have had quite a lot of Jaguar Owners opting for The Falken FK452'S
Im not sure where this upsurge has come from however i would say that Both the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3'S and the Toyo Proxes T1-R's are certainly a good bet if you are looking for All round all weather good performance.
Cheers

Hi all I'm new to the forum in fact just joined, like many others I've lost the Jaguar Forum and found this one when searching Jaguar on-line strangely it had not come up on previous searches I drive a 2007 S type R and am considering fitting a pair of Good Year F1s' to the rear it's currently fitted with OE spec Pirelli P Zero Rossos' which seem a bit hard and prone to spin - might even try that tip of starting off in 2nd gear when I'm not in a hurry as I find it so easy spin the rears even in the dry or maybe hopefully the F1s' which seem softer compound may solve the problem.
