For some reason there's more buzz about the new XFR than the XKR.
The XF will be superb in every way I'm sure but I'm more excited about the XK, here's why:
New XKR - 510bhp, 1665kg, £72k
New Aston DBS - 510bhp, 1695kg, £172k
Don't get me wrong I'd love a DBS and even though there are amazing deals to be had on them at the moment, it'll take a good while and lots of miles before the price dips below £80k. Also, however good the XF is, the XK will have the same drivetrain, and 200kg less weight. It should be awesome. Congrats Jaguar.

I think the buzz is down to the fact that this is a killer saloon car, there was a great deal of buzz around when the original XKR came out, this is more of a facelift of an already great car so the XFR will get more people attention at the moment, but yeah new XKR looks great, Jag have done an f'ing amazing job

In respect of the XKR it shows that Jaguar will not have to defer to Aston Martin anymore.

You are right, for value for money the Astons that are knocked for six are the DB9 and the Vantage
I hope the British Press get behind these fantastic new British cars at times like these instead of the constant German homhage they seem to maintain.
I hope also that the XK tests better than the 911 etc

. Loads of new interior combos and it seems most of the options are now as standard. The Jag Drive and new dynamic controls with the e-diff will certainly make it a joy to drive, pity it still has a limited top speed. 
Really impressed, Jag are off in the right direction. The new images of the cars in the gallery are fantastic.

Does seem pointless when the XKR-S did 175MPH and the XFR 225MPH.
I guess it's more down to the aerodynamics. The bootlid spoiler on the current XK/XKR does result in a very light front end when at higher speeds. The XKR-S had an aero kit to rectify some of this. I think the XFR can take much higher speeds than the XK, even though both can easily get up to the 200MPH with the 5ltr engines.

I agree. The only disappointment is the 155mph speed restrictor. Not because I intend to spend much time above that speed but because that makes it slower, for all it's power, than the 4.2 V8, 174mph XKR-S.
I'm sure these speed restrictions can be reasonably easily removed but you have to wonder how much testing of the rest of the car took place above 155. Certainly a fair amount of work went into the 174mph car.
Come on Jag you have to give this new car at least 180mph?!

In fairness to Aston Martin the new XKR is quoted with a weight of 1753kg on Jaguar's website some 90kg more than the N/A XK.
In fact the XFR is quoted at 1891kg, less than 140 kg more than the XKR - pretty impressive given it's made of steel and has room for 5 adults. Given it's list price is £12k less than the XFR perhaps now I can see what the fuss is about! Still, the XK's looks are worth more than £12k I reckon.

I'm not saying that to be the case. The Bonneville XFR was tweaked by a private Racing Company. If they were to do the same with the XKR I'm sure it too would get similar results or better. But if Jag removed the 155mph limiter they would have to spend more money or R&D to make sure these cars could be driven safely by the public at very high speeds which in reality are just not going to be achieved in the real world. So why do it?Of course we on this forum would love to take an unrestricted Jag one to Germany.
