I need lower ball joints replaced and one upper wishbone bush. for the price the dealers quote (you have to laugh!) i am thinking of going for the High performance front suspension bushes from paramount performance. anyone have these fitted? how does it effect the ride? any noises from the bushes?

cheers

I did this on my Monaro (the main steering rack bushes were actually gel filled!... don't let anyone tell you those cars are sports cars!) and the difference in feel and handling is markedly better.
In addition to these excellent improvements there was no loss in comfort at all in fact, if anything and because the car doesn't skit like it sometimes used to it actually feels nicer because it's more planted.

When the bushes gon on my XJ8 I'll have no hesitation in getting poly bushes for it.

IIRC there are two types of Polybush lavailable. One is red, the other blue and are intended to either be similar to OE replacements or signifcantly stiffer. Can't for the life of me remember which is which but a bit of Googling should come up with the answer.

You may need a press to change the bushes - especially if the sleves have rusted in. If you're stuck burn the old ones out and then cut the metal sleves with a hacksaw and chisel them out. You might get the new ones in with a big vise and a selection of sockets, but this is no time to find out you can't get the new ones in once the old ones are out.

I'd take the wishbones off and bribe my local engineering shop or better still, a Jaguar indy with beer tokens to remove and fit bushes. Not worth the aggro trying to DIY bush changing IMO.

Not sure about red and blue as the Powerflex ones that we fit are purple and yellow. We have fitted their bushes to quite a few of our customers cars with very good feedback.

It is correct that a press is required to change the bushes.
