1999 3.2 xjsport

Hello Everyone
I have a 99 3.2 xjsport and a couple of things seem to have gone wrong with it.
Firstly, the dash is saying "Stability control fail" and the other thing is, the sport mode light is always on. I only lifted the car to change the oil, and now I'm affraid to drive it.
Has anybody else had these problems?

Does the switch work? Is it latching as it should? Is the gearbox actually in Sport mode all the time? (5th engages at about 50MPH instead of around 35MPH on a light throttle)

You could try doing a hard reset - whether or not it will work is hard to tell but it's worth a try. Make sure you have the radio code and know how to reprogramme the radio and then disconnect the battery. Leave it for a while then reconnect.

Don't, whatever you do, shut the boot with the battery disconnected unless you are absolutely sure -try it first - that it will open manually with the key.

Did it a few weeks ago, immediately realising, . . . Doh

My stability control lights been on for months ass well? dont know what it is?

Thanks for the input. It doesn't seem to have made a difference with the gearbox but the stability control error seems to have gone.
I'm still open to hear everyones thoughts on what the gearbox issue could be.
