Begrudingly decided to replace the dying battery on the Jag. It survived the winter but I'm getting fed up of it struggling to start after short trips (Not just oil-wash either I've had the voltmeter out!).

I've seen the ones in halfords for £99. I'm almost certain that's cheaper than the ones supplied by the local motor-factors and due to convenience and the lack of P&P costs I'm very tempted. I remember a WhatCar review some years ago stating that the cheapo Halfrauds ones were good value..

I know I'm being incredibly lazy by not looking up the CCA and all the other details from all the battery suppliers on the net but it will, quite frankly, take forever and I'm hoping someone has replaced theirs recently enough to give me some advice of where to get a decent maintenance free one...

Last time I checked an OE one was £110 so might be worth considering?

Surely it's got to be good from Halfords and with a guarantee?

Kwik-Fit give lifetime guarantees. Or they did when I replaced the one on my XJS, and it's never failed in over 5 years.

Not a big fan of Kwik-Fit. I also reckon it would cost more as they do don't really encourage DIY.

I hadn't thought about the warranty... Probably a good call. I'd hate to have to try and return one of the things via mail order...

I'll give the OE one a look as well thanks!

I got mine from a local motor factors who supply the local Halfrauds. Obviously it was cheaper - about £80 IIRC.

I bought from here: http://www.tayna.co.uk/

Cheaper than I could find locally and next day delivery.

Well when the guy in Halfords says it will take a week to order one in and I say that I need one sooner than that, he gave me the details of a local motor factors saying that he'd have ordered it from there anyway.

Ofcourse he could have been making it up, but I can't for the life of me work out why he'd bother...
