hi, just took posession of 97 xk8 and am really pleased wity it so far but a couple of things to throw out to you all.
1 can i retro fit the hi level brake light that is on parcel shelf on newer models? price and poss supplier would be helpful as well.
2 when driving with my window down i can hear a very tinny rattling sound[could this be exhaust or cat converter] doesnt do it on idle or when engine is revved only when driving. if anyone has any ideas i would be very grateful. also have been quoted £280 for 10,000 mile service which apparently is oil and filters and check brakes by a jag specialist in central b/ham is that a good price???

Hi,

You can retro-fit just about anything with enough time/money and know how, the third brake light done correctly requires a rear screen from a later car though, maybe find a good one from a breakers and have it fitted by a reputable auto windscreen company.

The rattle could actually be your handbrake needing correct adjustment, try pulling it on very lightly while the window is down and you can hear the noise, if it stops then bingo, get it properly set up at the hubs/shoes then cable.(imposible to diagnose though without hearing it though)

That service price is well high for an indi imo, we charge £185.00 fully inclusive of parts labour and v.a.t genuine parts and Jaguar recomended Castrol oils. (Elite & Performance Jags Limited - Derby East Midlands) We give a full vehicle condition report with all services, and come well recomended by many Jaguar car clubs.

Hi,

We are about 5-10 mins from the town centre, full address can be found on our (little dated!) website, I'm affraid we don't open at the weekends but could drop you into town for a few hours while we carry out your service, or you can sit and wait in our reception area. As long as we know it's a while you wait service when you/anyone books in a 10k interval should only take a couple of hours.
