XKR rear number plate surround

My 2000 XKR is suffering from a very rusty rear number plate surround which is staining the silver bodywork. Should I just remove it - or can anyone suggest an alternative - maybe a plastic one?

I just removed mine, looks better I think

Have you done it to further improve your power to weight ratio...?

I had a similar problem with rust. Replaced the surround with a plastic chrome effect one. Actually looked better than the real chrome surround I was offered.
