Just collected a couple of days ago, it's a 55 plate late 2005 model with 43k on the clock, black with two tone black & grey leather, wasn't too sure from the picures about the interior, but is really nice! Think it has most options apart from tv tuner, which i don't think would work after the digital changover anyway?
Long journey home from Cheshire to Tayside, car returning 34mpg with cruise set to 75mph, so on a run , should be able to squeeze approx. 400 miles from one tank! Absolutely blown away by the performance, midrange is simply stunning, and the noise, oh my god!

Anyway , away to get to grips with the Jaguar Voice thing so will be sitting in the car talking to myself for the next wee while. If anyone is thinking about purchasing one with the low prices just now, do it, amazing value right now.

Steve.

34mpg @ 75mph in a 4.2litre supercharged? Surely not?

A fine automobile. Best of luck with it.

Best i have ever seen mine on a long (BORING) run was 28mpg @65mph.
My daily average is 18.8 for the last 2 months.. but i do enjoy the power rather often.

Yup, that was the readout on the computer, unless it is rather optimistic! On my 2nd tank of fuel now and been running around town, managed just over 100 miles on half a tank, excellent!Don't think it's too bad overall as had been running a volvo xc90 diseasel which was trully awful in town!

Im thinking of changing to one of these beasts next. I'd love an XJR tbh but theyre just too big a car body size. I think it HAS to be black with black interior although some of the 2 tone stuff looks ok too. That mpg looks very good too. I had a 4.2 V8 Audi S6 which returned an abysmyl 12mpg town driving ! The x-type 3.0 sport i had always seemed dead to me although obviously no such worries with a supercharger. As you say, the prices for the S type Rs are very reasonable at the min. Whats the Jag auto box like? The Audi was the only auto ive had and it seemed quite good although ive nothing to compare it with. Get a pic or 2 up of your new weapon. Good choice, enjoybeer

Ahem half a tank (true capacity) is 34 litres, chances are with the wildy inaccurate fuel gauge, you probably used closer to 27 litres, or 5.9 gallons, or 16mpg. You must have been enjoying yourself!

Autobox is very smooth, 6 speed zf unit, not tried the sport button yet, don't really see the point!

Fuel consumption was to be expected , with taking all & sundry out for a spin, it would be rather rude not to show off a wee bit!

Anyone know how to resolve a small issue:

Fuel filler flap popped open of its' own accord earlier and will not close, solenoid does work, looks like the flap isn't hooking into the plastic lug. Any suggestions much appreciated, am waiting on supplying garage to get back to me. Don't really relish the fact that if they cannot pay for a local repair...... long drive back to Cheshire!

Will post up pics later today, am in the middle of cleaning it right now.

don't have a release lever, it's just a switch on the dash.

You should have a release lever in the boot...near the top. right hand side.

Still no luck with the fuel flap, looks like a possible retaining clip has come off the locking pin, cannot get access via the boot. The inner wing panel will have to be removed to get at it, joy!

Anyway, some post cleaning pics, if anyone has the same mechanism on their fuel flap, can you double check yours to see how far out the pin sits? Much appreciated.

Had mine for just over 3 years now and covered 40k miles in it, it ain't bad on the fuel either I would say on average it does around 21 / 22 mpg but on a long run over about 180 miles of motorway I've managed 35 mpg, thing is anyone that has driven one they are such a lazy drive, barely need to touch the throttle to keep up with the traffic and sat on the motorway at 1500rpm or so it seems to like it.

Superb - nice pictures. This is what people forget about big engined cars. The engine doesn't have to work so hard, so if you are light on the pedal it can be economical.

Bloody hell my XJR 4.0 V8 only manges 25mpg on the motorway if I drive at about 65. Obviously the 4.2 and weight loss are significant when it comes to fuel!

I suppose that's what you get for buying an massive old steel car. No regrets biggrin.

very true, my xkr easily gets into the high 20s travelling at 75-85. keep it at a gentle 70mph usually returns 29/30.
