Hello folks

My Dad out in Spain has a 2000 year S-type Jag, 3.0 Auto. The car has covered about 250000km and generally runs very well.
One fault has started to develope though, in that in top gear and when under acceleration on a climb, the car developes an intermitten stutter at about 2000rpm. This is very brief stutter but makes progress jumpy. If you boot the throttle, it drops a gear and pulls away smoothly until you lift off and it goes back into top gear, where it normally runs fine again.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem with their S-type or 3 litre V6?

Thanks

Mark

probably the ignition coils, and most likely the ones under the manifold. a few other things to check though, make sure there are no air leaks, as there are vac hoses at the back that always split and leak, but my money would be on coils, if you can afford it do all 6, and the plugs while your there, if you cant afford it, get a technician to diagnose which ones are faulty. fly me to spain and i'll do it !!! hope this helps, keep us posted.

The problem only seems to happen when the car is on an uphill slop? Would this explain it more?
Thanks for the comments so far.
