Just about to place an order for a 3.0 v6 diesel S but can't make my mind up on colour. I think it will look great in white but others are saying it's too big a car for white and would look good in Miami but not in West Sussex. I can't face adding to the world's overpopulation of silver, charcoal and black. Green's not an option (for me). The dark blue isn't dark enough and the pale blue is already too popular. Radiance red might be ok if I was an old fart and planned to park it in the golf club car park on weekday mornings while I visit the 19th hole.

Anyone seen any XFs in white and thought wow, nice colour?

TBH not seen that many, but I think it needs a dark colour to set it off. I quite like the dark blue & they look good in black as well, although I struggle enough keeping the S-Type in blue prism clean!
Silver looks OK but is a bit boring, the pastel colours don't work & although I love white in sports cars I'm not sure the XF shape works with it.

Can i ask what dealership you are using Hut? Im based in W.Sussex aswell and just being nosey. smile

On topictongue outersonally i think white has had its time now. Black is a good bet with the right wheels though!

I agree with those above, the XF looks better in the darker colours IMHO. Personally I like Botanical green, Indigo or black. Is indigo not dark enough? In the flesh its not far off black, as is Botanical green. These paint shades only shimmer there "true" colours in bright sunshine.

Harwoods Chichester is most likely to get my business smile I thought white was the new black?

Why not have a look in the Jaguar Approved Used site? There's literally dozens of XF's on there in the whole range of colours for an easy comparison.

If I was considering buying one I'd choose a pale colour to try to reduce the impact of the bulk and high waistline as much as possible and (this really goes against the grain for me) fit the largest wheels I could specify to restore the balance of proportion between the sides of the car and the relationship between the wheels and wheelarch size .

Some colours are OK on the XF, others don't do it any favours at all IMO - my choice would probrably be light blue.

Good suggestion Steve, although the approved used site shows how much variation you can get in a colour once you photograph and present the image on a website - particularly indigo blue. The Prem Lux S comes with 20# wheels as standard so the arches are well filled.

It is...on BMWs wink

Have you tried Guy Salmon Gatwick? Try giving Gary a ring there. Their service has been really really good with my XJ.

  • not trying to take business away from Harwoods*

Not the best way to choose but playing with the colour picker at http://www.jaguar.co.uk/uk/en/xf/build/buildyourow... leaves me drooling over porcelain and lactating over liquid silver. The other colours all look drab.

Decision made - it's porcelain with ivory leather, oyster dash-top and dark walnut wood. (for a sophisticated website that colour-picker's the pits in terms of colour representation but I take your point about same-old, drab colours - look like they came out of some Rover 800 brochure c1985!)

There were a pair of XFRs in F-word Red at Goodwood last Sunday, I don't think that Red works.

I think that's why they are changing from Radiance Red to Claret mid 2009. Shame they don't list Lambo's Arancio or Viola with anthracite wheels as an option - that would turn a few heads (though might limit selling-on opportunities in due course!)

You are a brave man. IMHO, I would have plumped for Indigo blue, if you are against silvers, greys and blacks.

Nah, go for it. The XF is one of very few cars that looks good in white in this country.
Just don't try white on an XJ!

A white saloon in the Uk is always thought of a cop car, you maybe a trend setter, but I don't think it will catch on with the XF, unless it is a totally specced up XFR........

Buy a colour you know someone other than just you will want...............

Personally I think the XF is just too big to wear the colour well.

To my eyes there isn't a bad colour, she looks good regardless. I quite like the dark blue, but the choice is yours. If you care about fashion, I hear white is back. I had a white 1978 XJ6 S2 which looked great.

Porcelain (not white) looks the dog's doodahs to me. But I don't like the way that the rear wheel appears not to fit the wheel arch.
