I have very few niggles with my XJ8 but the ones I do have are:

The windows are one touch down but not up - even my little Smart car has that - Grrr
The cruise on/off button is hard to get at if there's something in the cup holders - Grrr
The petrol filler cap/socket/space fills with detritus and needs cleaning every few days - Grrr

Ditto - windows not 'one touch up'.

On long journeys, when I move about to get comfy, the handbrake digs in the back of my left leg.

Single wiper – always leaves a dead spot on the screen that is not wiped and impairs my vision on long right hand bends.

Flippin heck, I don’t know why I keep the damn thing.

The lack of voltmeter in the x308 - and then the random warnings about abs and traction control when you turn on. Time for a new battery perhaps.

There are tears in my eyes as I type frown

The window thing is a bug bear. OH and the feckin stealers that I no longer even talk to. And it doesn't matter how far away I park the thing some tt always parks next to it and if I ever catch the cont who dinged it I will pull all his teeth out, mash them up, and use them as filler for the dents his head will make in his own car. Apart from that the XJR is one of the best cars I've ever driven and is pretty much reliable.
And does anyone know if Britishparts are alive or dead as there website has been blank for ages.

bro...i completely understand...yet am full of envy as the frustrations you portray are all but a distant memory frown
how i long for those halcyon days of running my hands over the wonderfully dateless coachlines, and caressing the glorious sheen with my fingertips as i would walk past trying in vain not to glance back over my shoulder at what can only be described as the pinacle of Jaguar's achievement in building this near 'purrfect' example of a gentleman's carriage.

Only In my dreams i have attempted to gain the levels of bravery and valour usually awarded to winners of the Victoria Cross in order to devise a plan to rerpatriate the keys in a daring boys-own comic style raid into the deepest and darkest labyrinth of her handbag biggrin

many times have i woken with a fevourish sweat just at the point where my fingers giddily touch the keyfob only to be thwarted and dropped deeper into the pit of despair by a not of this earth banshee like shreak of......'PHILIP' WHAT THE F**K DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING!

You clearly have little understanding of Wifebeast Managment Techniques and have gone badly wrong on the matter of who has the car keys - Mrs JS flatly, totaly and completely refuses to drive the XJ anywhere under any circumstances since we had a full and frank exchange of views on her driving style and parking technique very soon after I bought it.

Works a treat everytime I've found hehe - except that I'm on halves of larger shandy at lunchtime when we go out frown

On my XK8 4.2:

1. The popup lid over the ashtray/lighter which pops up annoyingly often without being asked (eg. just try cleaning it)

2. Impaired vision through the front windscreen caused by a mixture of heating elements, rain sensors and reflection of the top of the dash

3. Still have trouble working out where my nearside front wing is when manoeuvring into a parking space

4. Very annoying that I can't raise the steering wheel with keys in the ignition - that's where I want them when washing the car for example, but I then can't get in or out of the driving seat

5. Airflow over an open cockpit can't have been wind tunnel tested.

X-Type 2.5

Fairly predictable but "It's not a proper Jag" comments are tedious to the extremerolleyes

This may be true, but the rule in Cookyville is to execute the lesser of all evils, being that the XJR is more a sacrificial lamb. God forbid she should select to drive my beloved old XJS (patio extension plan on standby) or the mere thought of her being anything other than a passenger in the Cerb is just horrific. yikes

On a 4.0ltr instead of a 4.2ltr. Agree with the ashtray cover, but don't have a problem with the heated windscreen.

Don't have a problem with the steering wheel either.

Your last problem is your own fault for buying a ragtop winkbiggrin

I do have some concerns though regarding the XJS

The size of the fuel tank is just pathetic on the Convertible

The Lattice Alloys are a b*st*rd to keep clean

The centre console is just a little too wide, when experiencing in car entertainment

other than that I think Jaguar got it spot on.

Oh and forgot to add the boot is too big...when wifebeast evil puts her shopping in it...it looks like she's hardly bought anything...Doh!!!!

Had an XK8 for a while and my niggles were:

1) The general lack of feel when driving. You either had grip or didn't and there was no warning if traction was being lost. No feedback from the wheel whatsoever.

2) The car had a habit of misting up even with the air cond working.

Otherwise it was a lovely car.

Sounds like a blocked drain pipe from the aircon.

Is it a common problem?

It also happened on my XJV8

Had it on other cars too.
I don't think it was a difficult thing to sort, the garage did it as part of the service. Don't remember them charging specifically for it.
One of the tame Jag technicians can probably explain. I think like any drain you can just end up with junk clogging it up.

AND why did Jag do away with the remote Window control? It was there on the X300 - hold down alarm arm/disarm and all windows would go up/down. Doesn't work on the x308.
