Hi Guys
Posted last week on a problem with handbrake fault and blisters/white blemishes appearing on alloys. Another attempt at fixing handbrake has been carried out, time will tell, however with respect to alloys I am waiting to hear back from Jaguar what the resolution will be. The suggestion from service is that they will refurbish the alloys, but I am not sure if i am happy with this and would much prefer a replacement set as it appears to be a manufacturing fault. Am i entitled to 'demand' this or is a refurbishment as much as i can expect.
As always, thanks in advance for any opinions.

I think I'd prefer to get them refurbished as long as it's done properly, a new set may show the same fault out of warranty, if they're blasted and repainted professionally they should be fine, if you're not happy with the standard of the work you can always reject them and demand a new set.

I dunno if your wheels have a 'diamond cut' finish but I got white blisters under the laquer on my 1995 XJR6 17" wheels. If you opt for refurb I would ensure they come back with the same shiny finish rather than the 'standard plain silver alloy' coating. Perhaps I am just a gimp for wanting to keep my cars original though!

These wheels gave those problems very quickly. I remember a Steve Copely piece when they were returning their long term test car, so probably in late 96 and them discussing this very issue with the a couple of the people from Jaguar. It was a known problem all the way back then.

The biggest problem with getting these wheels redone is getting the dimples re-painted before the top lacquer coating is applied. I've never seen one that has been redone, I've always seen them refurbed as plain metal. I've spoken to a few places and they've said they couldn't do it.

Anyone know a company that can do it right?

I had a 20' Senta refurbed, was done by the dealership as conditionon of sale, was never th same as an original. I would only agree to a new set. I know u have a Portfolio XKR, those polished Cremona are going to get rarer as time goes by. Why not ask for a set of those 20' Vulcans from the XKR-S.

Edited to say, how can they refurb polished metal alloys???
