Gahhh... coolant expansion tank....

Well for the first time in 20 years of owning jags, this one did it's damnest to leave me stranded this evening.

Picking my boy up from Reading train station, sat outside for about 20mins waiting, with engine running.

Drove off and immediately noticed steam from under the bonnet and low coolant warning.

Watched the temperature like a hawk but no signs of it shooting up so proceeded to drop his mate off.

Checked under the bonnet there and it was immediately obvious that the little pipe which connects to the top left hand side of the tank was off... the plastic pipe extending from the coolant tank has snapped off from the body of the tank.

Drove off back towards home and stopped in a garage to top water up, managed to get a couple of pints of water in and carried on home.

So tomorrow's job is phoning the local stealership to see if they have a replacement tank in stock.

Not holding my breathe!!!

I wonder if I can get away with supergluing it back on? LOL

Hi thanks for the offer, very kind.

I been in this morning and I doubt if it would be the same. The parts guy went and checked , and does have ones for normal XJs etc... he said that although it does occasionally happen he'd not seen it on an XJR before.

Anyways, at £69 I've ordered one up for me to collect on the way home on tuesday.

Looks like I'm using the old espace for the rest of the weekend which is an experience in it's own right.
