another question re xk8 stinky??

have just got this car and have noticed a smell in the cab and boot which is best described as a smell of strong oil, not burnt oil but as if a can was spilt at some stage..cant feel or see any signs tho strange . think thats my last quest on this car ... hope thanks again

Hope your car isn`t venting for England, that is pumping oil vapour out of the breather.The V8 has fibre cam covers with a large breather on one bank and a very small one on the other. Needless to say the breather gauze is never checked ( it is located under the cam cover, in a slot below the orifice. It is not a service item but they do block up. Worth having a look in case you are being poisoned by the car. Make sure also there are no leaks onto the exhaust, especially on to the manifold. Because these are poor quality cam covers they do degenerate and leak oil through the gasket mating surface, on to the manifold.
