Satnav / Bluetooth / ICE head unit for Jag X-type
Discussion
Has anyone fitted a 3rd party head unit into an Xtype which runs SATNAV / Bluetooth Phone / Music ?
I've found a couple of single din units which look OK and a couple of double din big screen units such as the Pioneer AVIC and a Kenwood unit which look brilliant but have no experience of fitting such a major change so would be really interested in hearing from anyone who has installed anything other than Jag kit - and seeing some pictures obviously.
Alternatively, i have the chance to buy a Jag Satnav kit and retro fitting it, although I still wouldn't have bluetooth phone so the £700 its being offered at seems more than just a bit
Anyone retro fitted Jag Satnav into a X-Type?
Thanks
Ian

Looking to do this my self, but as you say the price 2nd hand units are is very high, and I 'm thinking better to go for aftermarket unit.
Found a suplier that does the din conversion facias so might be a better option ?
Looking at screns around for the x type there seem to be quite a few variations, at least 3 I've seen so far and not sure if wiring is in the car for sat nav system. Where would the gps part be ? And is everything just operated from the DVD / DVD unit or are there features built into the screen electronics ?

I ended up digging out my old Mitac Mio P350, getting an updated version of TomTom for it and mounting in on a bracket I found specifically for it. The bit that attaches to the back of the Mitac cradle came from Ebay, the bit that attaches that to the car from Maplin.
So its worth having a look at the brackets they have in Maplin for what ever you choose going forward. You pull the stereo out, screw this bracket to the steel radio surround (the centre console) and shove the stereo back. It fits really neatly now to the left of the centre console.
