Sorry to hear about the turbos and being unable to advise a garage in Surrey or where to get replacements but very interested in what caused both to go.

Both turbo's???

If you can get them taken off Universal Turbo's will be able able to diagnose the failure & repair them. They've just done my mates 530d & found it was an internally flaking manifold that caused the exhaust blades to break up.

Speak to Graham & mention my name Declan & he'll sort you a good deal

Turbo Technics at Harlow. But I'd be concerned as they sit on opposite banks, why have they both blown. Although there was a recall with the early S-Types with an ECU fault which could pop both turbos. Very few went though.

If there is any evidence of physical damage as opposed to seal failure you'll need to make sure whoever replaces them takes full responsibility for cleaning out the inlet manifold and intercooler - and details this clearly on his invoice. Otherwise you are likley to get into a three way arguement if you have any problems under warranty.

If the turbos really have disintigrated you need to find out why and make sure there's no chunks lodged anywhere on the inlet - and preferably exhaust too - side. The first time you wind the boost up after they have been changed is not really the best time to find out there's a load of shrapnel left inside being blown through either the engine or your brand new turbos.
