Hi, does anyone know if Jag ever gave a paint code for the dark grey door cap trim and window surrounds of XK's?
Mine have bad bubbling so have got them off ready for a repaint, but would be easier to match the grey if a code was available?
Any tips would be appreciated,
Many thanks

Hi Drummerboy, go see Chris and ask him if he can use a plastisizer additive on this application. I`m sure he could paint it for you.

Thanks RW, Chris was my first thought, he is doing a set of rims for me at the mo, but wanted to have a go myself as its such a small area.
Maybe Jag used a grey that they had left over from a poor selling colour??
Or if anyone has succesfully matched it using colours from a different manufacturer, might be Vauxhall Stormcloud Grey, or something along those lines?

Just had a quick search of our club ( www.xkec.co.uk ) forum and came up with this..

Code LEH (its an old rover colour BLVC730)

These people do it in various formats:

Just a follow up, my paint man got his swatch book out, confirmed Gunmetal Pearl-LEH. Mixed it up, matches a treat.
Thanks Robocop for your help.

The reason, Robocop, is that it isn't the same. Gunmetal (LEH) was in use from 1990 to 1994.
Dorchester Grey (LDD/LDP) was in use from 1986 to 2002. This is based on data from the Spies Hecker database
I have used Dorchester Grey and it appears to give the right result, I assume Gunmetal acheieves a similar result.

Hi Drummerboy, got the same problem with my 2003. Do these surrounds come off easily enough or is it advisable to mask.
Thanks,
George

Hi Bandit, have done my top of door trims, came off a piece of cake. Once off i masked the rubbers.
Tha rear window is next, according to the JTIS it just pops out of its clips, doesnt mean taking all the rubber out, thankfully.
Will let you know how it goes.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply Drummerboy but if you took them out why would you mask the rubbers ?
