Can any one out there help.
When going into a left hand corner above 50mph car feels like it wants to break away but seems to throw car off line and back in etc, if was a rear wheel drive you would almost be about to take corrective action etc strange feeling does not do it on right hand bends, also sometimes a loud knock from back, could it be bushes etc never had a all wheel drive before so not sure.
Cheers Deke

Check you have a matched set of tyres, look for uneven wear on the tread and correct pressures.

We used to have an X type (albeit an estate) and as Steve says, found it quite sensitive to tyre pressures - you could feel low pressure through the wheel, even at only a few psi.

Not sure about the clunk though, soz.

I know this is a bit of a late reply. The symptoms described are consistent with the bushes on the rear suspension lower tie-arm being worn/broken. The bushes cannot be replaced on their own, but the arm can be bought for about £50 from a dealer or £35 elsewhere if you shop around.

Replacing the arm is fairly straightforward, but sometime the rearmost bolt will rust solid into the sleeve through the bush because it is so exposed to spray and salt. It is better to cut the ends off and drift it out rather than try and turn it as you can bend the mounting point on the chassis.
