97 XK8.
OK, I'm slowly going through the car now it is back on the road again (gearbox rebuilt) trying to fix all the little faults that have built up over the years of being an everyday car.
I had the AC regassed (it turned out to be virtually empty) for free by a good friend who did it as a favour about June last year, now it is dead again, I presume it has a leak and I'm sure there are plenty of normal checks to be done. I'm intrested to know if there are any well known 'issues' with early XK8 AC systems at this time in their life cycle...

aj,
I have a '96 XK8 and had a full a/c service recently after mine had stopped pumping nice cool air. Halls Electrical of Swindon did the work and they were very helpful. They had to put a dye in to find the source of the leak as it was not immediately obvious - ie using the usual sprays around connectors and joints.
It turned out to be a tiny hole on the condensor at the front of the radiator. That good 'ol Jaguar trait of putting alloy(pipe) up against steel(clamp) and the resulting corroding of the two different materials.
Jag replacement was £300+ but they sourced a branded patent part for less than half. Test and re-gas job done
We have not had a common problem with this in the club ( www.xkec.co.uk ) but mine is one of the first XK's, and it seems I am the Guinea Pig
Have a full leak test done to find the sorce of the leak. My guess is due to similar age as mine, it will be a tiny corrosion somewhere.
